Tan quilted leather jacket at Pelletteria La Noce, Florence

A leather jacket is one of the best things you can bring home from Florence. You'll wear it for years, and it gets better with age. At Pelletteria La Noce, just behind the Mercato Centrale, you can try on different styles, colours and sizes before you choose.

Styles you'll find in our shop

  • Quilted leather jackets: warm, light and smart, with stitched panels. They're easy to wear in the city.
  • Hooded jackets: casual, practical and great for travelling.
  • Clean biker and racer cuts: minimal zips and a close fit that works with jeans or tailoring.
  • Colour: timeless black, dark brown and tan, plus statement shades like forest green.

How a leather jacket should fit

  • Shoulders: the seam should sit on the edge of your shoulder bone, not past it.
  • Sleeves: ending at the wrist bone with arms relaxed. A little longer is fine for biker cuts.
  • Body: you should be able to close it over a light sweater. Soft leathers relax slightly with wear, so a snug fit at first is normal.
  • Movement: reach forward and cross your arms. It shouldn't pull hard across the back.

Leather jacket size chart (Italian to US/UK)

Italian sizes are often the most confusing part of buying in Florence. Use this as a starting point. Fits vary between models, so trying on in store is the best guide.

Caring for your jacket

  • Hang it on a wide, shaped hanger and avoid plastic covers. Leather needs to breathe.
  • If it gets wet, let it dry naturally at room temperature, away from radiators.
  • Condition it once or twice a year with a leather cream suited to the finish.

Travel tip: wear your new jacket on the flight home. It saves space in your suitcase and keeps it from getting crushed.
